What do you hear the most?

WAG Most Overplayed Floor Music (2024)

Yes, we’ve listened to pretty much near all of them lol! Daughter was compulsory last year so didn’t get to go to many meets to see what was popular & overplayed so was hoping to hear from y’all.

WAG Most Overplayed Floor Music (2024)

Found an older thread on this topic…thought we could give it at 2024 update ;) Name a floor music/artist/etc. that you feel is overplayed and super popular. DD looking for something new and can’t decide AT ALL. But she doesn’t want to have the same thing as everyone. So I thought we’d start...

Parents Rant about the system (regionals age groups)

On a somewhat, yet not completely related note, why do they not on occasion re-boundary the regions to even numbers up a bit? Seems that would not solve the problem completely, but would help if at least each region was sending a similar percentage of athletes to nationals.

    Parents Advice- jealousy of parents

All I can say is I understand your daughter’s mental and emotional struggles and how they aren’t always so apparent. Mine is the same. Luckily *most* parents and my kids gym is nice and supportive. We just kind of distance ourselves from the ones who aren’t. But I was talking to a friend and...

Parents How important is the state meet?

I’d move now, especially if she doesn’t have a major opinion on the matter. It will likely be easier for her to bond with her new teammates now when the new teams are forming in your new state vs. a few months in.

Parents Annoyed - flyaway meet where only competitors were teammates

That’s extremely frustrating. I’m glad you can at least find some positives in the experience, and being evaluated by different judges is always beneficial too. I agree with politely discussing this with the coaching staff, and letting them know that if the same meet appears on the schedule...

Parents Heel pain(severs apophysitis ) with increased training hours

My 9 year old has it and it comes and goes. She uses cheetah cups and does icing after practice and stretching and exercises to help. Sometimes we have to take a day or even few days off to manage, but now it seems she can tell if it’s coming on and get ahead of a flare.

Parents Poll: booking flights - airline panic

I’m sticking with my original SW flights for the season. Companion pass and only option for nonstops make it worth it. My flights are minimum 2 days before meet and I could drive the day before if needed (but it would be like 10 and 12 hr drives ). And we won’t check bags.

    Parents Travel meet advice

Hi! We have our first meet further than 2 hours away in a few weeks and I’m not sure how to handle travel plans. DD is 9, usually sleeps 9pm-6:30am. Doesn’t deviate much from this on non school days. She has to report at 2:30. We live about 4.5 hours away. Due to sibling schedules, our...

Parents How Far are Your Average Meets?

Urban area. 5 meets in our home city/suburbs. 1 is 4 hours away. 1 is 12+ away. State happens to be local this year. We tend to follow a 6 local, 1 drive away, 1 fly away schedule every year. If state isn’t local then it becomes our “drive away”.

    WAG Level 5 vs. 6

Can someone point out some differences in level 5 vs. 6 besides the obvious 5 is compulsory and 6 optional? Are there skills needed for 6 that aren’t required for 5? Additionally curious to hear if your gym competes 5, 6, or both and how they make determinations on placement between these...

    WAG $500+ competition leo!?!?

That’s insane just for a competition leotard, I don’t care what level, though I know some clubs do it. Rumor had it this past season that one of the local gyms had $700 leotards for all their DPs, even level 3 . Our preteam (levels 1-3) and xcel wear relatively simple Ozone leos, about $100...

    Parents Parent drama

Yep, we have a few of those at our gym too. I second the suggestions above. I will sometimes directly seek out and start conversation with a parent I enjoy talking to, or pop in my airpod and “be in a meeting”. I also try to keep a couple good excuses to exit a convo on hand if need be, like “oh...

    WAG Gymnast/Coach ratio for L3-6

Currently somewhere between 16-18 girls and 2 coaches for level 4. Still moving kids around throughout the summer. Hoping we will settle in around 8:1 come fall. Last year was 30:3 for level 3 and I didn’t love it.

    WAG White Leo Opinions

Just no. I’ve never understood why coaches pick a white bottomed leotard.

    Parents Vault troubles

Thank you for this feedback and explanation. Makes sense. I feel as though my post has been a little misunderstood. I understand completely I should not (and cannot) “coach” this, however was questioning if this is normal at the age/level or an overlooked issue.

I get it. Hope our girls can get it figured out in time!

    Parents Vault troubles

No. They do not start at a specific distance or teach counting steps she tells me.
