    Women New Regions?

Agree to disagree because every time we went the best gymnasts that went on to Olympic teams or to be NCAA powerhouses were there … was there someone who might not have made it ? Sure but in general, the best were there. And your realignment of states would totally take away the regional...

    Women New Regions?

But that’s the thing …… Texas could have its own region with the amount of gymnasts they have and like ORgymmom says , region 2 tends to have less gyms and therefore less gymnasts because of where they are but flipping Oregon into Region 6 for example might make your numbers look better but the...

    Women New Regions?

This is EXACTLY what I am referring to and after 20 years , nothing changes ....the Region 2 National Qualifier is a National Qualifier from her region and people need to stop "region shaming" (for lack of a better word) ...there are probably many more powerhouse gyms or even looser judging in...

    Women New Regions?

This is brought up every year … usually by regions feeling that they have somehow been wronged by folks living, and qualifying to Nationals, in less gymnast populated regions …

    Women WCC's Clinic of Champions

Do you mean Romanian coaches (a la Bela Karolyi) in general and how they behave or these particular Romanian coaches at this camp? My daughter had a Romanian HC during her gymnastics career, and he was tough but never abusive and my daughter really liked him and his style of workouts.

    Parents Finish Times (Late Workouts)

We had a 2 hour commute each way and our practice ended at 8:30-9 so what you do is you feed her in the car on the way home so she’ll be ready to jump in the shower and go to bed afterwards….my girls did this for their whole competitive careers, starting in 1st grade.

Parents How long should gymnast be at L10?

Fortunately no she is not … she didn’t like coaching and it showed. But the kicker is, she wasn’t the worst one out there…. In our last year there when she was rumored to be leaving, and she continues to work in a college setting, which stuns me , I said to her” your next job should be in a...

Parents How long should gymnast be at L10?

    1. You have hit the nail on the head there ....especially about "comply with everything as payback for financial payouts"... I preface this by saying my daughter competed consistently on 3 events her whole NCAA career and there has hopefully been some reform in the past 10 years, but my...

Parents How long should gymnast be at L10?

No i do not think a 7th grade level 7 “with hard work and luck” is likely to get a D1 scholarship ….because if by age 13, she’s only level 7, she’s unlikely to progress to 10 , and be really good to be recruited by a D1 school. So you are correct… this would be very uncommon, especially now...

Parents How long should gymnast be at L10?

My former D1 daughter never scored above a 32.00 in ANY compulsory level but was a level 10 at 10 yo and qualified to JOs for 7 years .... so with all these rules you see now ("must have 2 AA 36s to move up") , I wonder what would have happened. She was a great optional gymnast, did a brief...

    Parents Finish Times (Late Workouts)

Some would say extra curricular gymnastics is a choice… especially in a private club setting . Our gym adhered to being closed when it was a snow day but for the rest, those were the hours.

    NCAA NCAA Women's Regionals

It’s not that Level 10s are scored more harshly, it’s that the judges are more inclined to do their jobs at DP/JO meets. The scuttlebutt you hear is “10s make spectators more likely to come” and that’s rubbish. I think the multitude of 10s (although there were only 33 this year vs 80+ last...

    NCAA NCAA Women's Regionals

A lot of scores are frustrating , but as I commented above when a poster asked about an Oklahoma vault that "looked more like a 9.75", the judges absolutely will not go there unless it's a glaringly obvious error, like a fall...and I've even seen judges go 9.5 on routines with a fall and wobbles...

    NCAA NCAA Women's Regionals

Oklahoma and Missouri (by the skin of their teeth) go through....198.45 was certainly an overscore for Oklahoma but they definitely were the best team out there tonight and Mizzou was the second best. As usual, Helen Hu's beam routine was a treat...hard to believe that she also took last year...

Unless she sits it down, no judge is giving Torrez (or anyone in that line up) a 9.75 on their vault...not that you're wrong, it just won't happen.
