There is little to no representation for boys who do gymnastics, so it would be cool to take place in a gym where there are also mag athletes and interaction between them.
Could you ask the person who is in charge of the camp? They would know about past years and what level and year those kids were. Another factor to look at is what group has more kids her age.

I would say it depends on his goals. I think that team can be really fun but it is very different from rec classes. If he wants to do big skills and be like the "big kids", then team can be really fun for him and he can make very good friends, but if he just wants to play and learn cool tricks...

Rec tramp - 10 yrs old
lvl 6 tramp - 11 yrs old
training with lvl 5-6 mens gymnastics but not competing - 13 yrs old
(planing to compete lvl 7 mens next yr)
