I think what gymgurl said is important, about knowing your own limitations. I have a trampoline and I've never been hurt on it, because I know what I can and can't do. I'm not sure how you can teach this to a kid, but you can definitely teach them things like: A backyard trampoline works...
I'm not a coach or a parent but I was reading through this thread and I'm wondering why there are so many posts discouraging backyard trampolines. Just curious

A wide arm handstand is a handstand where you have your arms wider than shoulder width apart.
