WAG Lost Skill :( Standing back tuck

I’m really sad because I lost my standing back tuck. I did it for the first time in March (so two months ago). It’s my favorite skill, and I got so good at them that I started working them ON beam! But about a week ago they started becoming inconsistent. It seems that I’m severely undercutting...

WAG I can’t set in my round off back tuck!

I have been trying to do a round off back tuck for years but it’s always the same problem. I have trouble tucking and setting and I really need tips. I don’t have access to a trampoline

I'm curious to know by what age it is reasonable to expect a female gymnast to acquire this skill.

WAG Back tuck vs front tuck

My daughter just recently got a couple of new skills on beam; front tuck and back tuck off beam. Are both of these skills the same level of difficulty or is one harder than the other?

WAG closing eyes on back tuck

My daughter just came back from practice. She said, "I keep landing my ROBHBT on my knees." When I asked what her coach said, she said, "He told me it is because I keep closing my eyes! I think "keep your eyes open, keep your eyes open, but I just keep closing them." (By the way she is being...

WAG Back tuck off the beam needs improvement!

I have my back tuck off the beam as my dismount, but it is long and not very high. When I jumped upwards in the past, I hit my head on the beam. How do I improve my back tuck?

    Off Topic Back tuck issues...

I have had my roundoff back handspring back tuck for about a year and a half now and have never been freaked out (about any gymnastics really). Last Thursday I bailed and fell on my back, but didn't hurt myself. After I fell, I did it again to make sure I wouldn't lose it. I didn't do it again...

    Back tuck trouble

I keep throwing my head and shoulders back in back tucks. Any tips on how to fix this? (PS-I do it correctly on the trampoline but once I get to floor it gets messed up)

WAG Hand placement in back tuck

Curious to what hand placement everyone learns in a standing back tuck. Do you put hands under knees (knee pits), on shins/knees or not grab anything? Is this the same as all your other skills?

WAG Throwing shoulders and head back in back tuck

Hi! I'm struggling with some girls who are throwing their head and shoulders backwards when doing a standing back tuck as they would do in a backhandspring. Other than squeezing a sponge between your chin and neck and jumping straight up unto a pile of mats and then doing a tuck, what other...

Parents Experience with come back/regaining skill after back tuck fall?

Anyone have any experience with coming back and regaining a robhs back tuck after a fall? My daughter had newly learned hers and had just moved to unspotted and had a weird 'freak out' moment doing one, and basically stopped mid air. Kind of landed on her neck area and rolled backwards out of...

WAG How tight should a back tuck be?

Can back tucks (or tucks in general) be too tucked/tight? When I do a back tuck, I am really tucked tightly. But when I watch videos of meets, on instagram where people do RO BT or RO BH BT most of the time they don't tuck that tight. They grab their kness and their legs make a 90 degree...

WAG Standing double back tuck beam dismount?

I was thinking "what if?" about this earlier and I wanted to get some community advice to satisfy my curiosity. The idea is performing a standing double backward tucked somersault off the end of the beam as a dismount. Perhaps some of the knowledgeable people on here can enlighten me. My...

WAG Back tuck vs BHS BHS on beam

Why is a back tuck on beam harder than a BHS Series? I know many L9 girls and all of them say that the BHS Series is a lot harder than a back tuck! If you can tuck easily on floor and are exact on the landing it shouldn't be that hard! Am I wrong?

WAG your experiences...from Back Tuck to Layout to Twist - was it hard for you/your DD?

RO BH BT came quite easy to me. After mastering all 3 on their own it took some practice but then I got it quite quick. I was always super confused how I should ever be able to do a back layout! But I trained it on trampline first and I actually could throw one on tumbl trak just after 3 days...

WAG back tuck vs whip back vs back layout

I have my RO BH BT on spring floor and I can do it on the grass too. I have never tried a back layout or whip back. Is it a big step to go from a back tuck to a layout/whip back? For me, this seems impossible! I think I might get it on tumbl trak easily, but on spring floor/grass I can't...

WAG Round off back handspring back tuck

So I compete xcel gold and my first meet is coming up on the 10th-12th. I have 3 more practices until then. I have a really nice ro-bhs (good form, high re-bound). Do you think it's realistic to get a round off back handspring back tuck before my meet, and be able to compete it? I'm very...

    WAG Standing Back Tuck Fear

So first of all I coach a group of xcel gymnasts. One of my girls is 11 years old, really strong, about 4ft. 11in. tall, and she is extremely afraid of standing back tucks. I try doing them into the pit off a block, but she won't through it because she thinks she will hit her head. She used to...
