Just wondering what other coaches do to end a gymnastics class in a fun, positive way? (Beginner girls, 8-10, recreational gymnastics). I was trying to think of some kind of a cheer for them or something that this age group would have fun with...Would love to hear what others do...
This is purely from a "spectator/Mommy" point of view, and is neither here nor there. But I'm so tired of the girls in DDs class who play around, don't listen, and balk on skills for attention. It wastes the teacher's time and the other kids' time.
Yes, it's a pre-team class with young girls...
My DD (new lvl 4) has been dancing in addition to gymnastics for the past year, her dance teacher really wants her in her acro class (can't imagine why ;)) in addition to the jazz class she has been taking. Of course DD wants to do it, but would this be a bad idea? Would they teach skills with...
After a year of trying and pretty devious scheming , I finally convinced my mom to let me do gymnastics today. The good news is my coach advanced me to the Intermediate level after class. The bad news is, I ripped 5 minutes into bars while walking across the high bar several times and doing...a...
I wasn't quite sure where to post this.
Anyways, I am working on a research proposal and was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of any statistics (or articles) on race or class in gymnastics. Who has access to the sport? If you know of anything, it would be appreciated.
Thanks.
I've posted before about DD really wanting to join the Pre-Team program, but so far she's not been asked. I am fine with waiting and trust the coaches to know what is best for her development.
I just feel really frustrated with her rec experience. She goes twice a week, but she's not learning...
DD's gym is adding a 1 hour optional strength and conditioning class open to all team girls (levels 4+), its a Sunday afternoon. DD of course wants to do it, but we are in the gym 4x a week, and then she has an hour of dance on one of her "days off", so if we add this class that would only give...
Hello!
My DD is 3 years old (3.5 in March) and on a developmental team. Her class has always been small- 4 girls (including my DD) is the most that have been in the class since my daughter joined in December. Last month two of the girls left, leaving my DD and another girl as the only two in...
Ok I am pretty "green" when it comes to gymnastics. I have read on here about kids in "developmental" gym classe, and I have read about kids on pre team. My question is What is the difference? I know pre team at our gym starts at level 2/3. So that being said, what would be the developmental...
I coach at a rec gym and have around 7 classes to coach a week. The one I am most concerned with is my advanced girls class. It is a 75 minute class and meet only once a week. The girls are all 4th and 5th graders. There are six girls and two coaches. Most can do roundoff back handsprings...
My almost 5 year old had her first advanced class Yesturday :)
She was a bit afraid at first, didn't want to go in.
Which makes sense the gym is full during that class with much older groups
practicing, during her old class it was just five of them, one of whom was her brother
they had the...
My 4 year old has bad eczema. I am winning the battle everywhere but on her upper thigh. I think running/sweating at the gym is the cause. She sees a derm and I have steroid cream for her. It works till the next gym class. We have tried bar shorts, bigger leos, smaller leos... Does anyone think...
Once in a while my daughter doesn't want to go to class. No real reason for it she just wants to spend the day at home after school. Normally she loves the gym and loves dance class and is disappointed when she doesn't have class. Does anyone else ever experience this with your child and how do...
I've been taking my daughter to the same gym for the past several months and it is the best program I have found in this area (and we have tried them all). After coaching for 17 years, my standards are probably a little higher than the average gym parent. I closed my gym a few years ago due to...
I've begun teaching a class called gym & fit for 2-3 year olds at a facility that offers childbirth classes, mom's groups, etc. They bought me a low beam and two panel mats and i also have access to a tunnel, a few cones and hula hoops, have been promised bean bags at some point, and a...
DD started taking classes about 6 months ago and absolutely loves it. She is a great listener, catches on quickly and you can tell she just loves it! Anyway-- obviously all coaches will be different, but at our gym some tend to lean on the side of recreation at this age, while others focus on...
I'm curious how important everyone thinks adding a ballet class would be to someone who is already on team, going 13 hours/week (level 5)? I know dd could use some polishing up when it comes to turns and basic positioning that you would probably only get if taken at a ballet class.
Our team...
Wife and I took DD to her free preschool class at ***** Gymnastics. My wife really loved the gym, and DD loved the class. It ook her about 5 mins to get to where she wasnt shy, and she enjoyed it. So much that she didnt want to leave. She got to do some backrolls, front rolls, jump on...
Beware this is kinda long
Last night at my first gymnastics lesson ever....................
The place I go to is not a real gym, it's basically three coaches and three assistants that come from a gym up north, they use the school district's gymnastics equipment, and it takes place in a grade...
The high school season is over and I'm now just helping out at a small local rec. center a few Saturdays a month (it's not even every week, but it's really the only game in town). It's a good way to stay in the gym even though it's not the ideal setting. However, the gym does not have any type...
