I have gymnasts ranging from Level 6-9 who are struggling with their clear hips. The younger levels can't seem to come out of them high enough above horizontal and the older girls are trying to reach handstand. I've tried a bunch of things but nothing is clicking. Any suggestions??
I have a couple of girls who struggle to keep their feet from hitting the floor when kipping out of a free hip. Is this purely a strength issue, or is there a technical fix for it as well?
Spotting helps the gymnast get the feel for the proper technique, timing, and motion, but doing it, even with a spot, will help develop the necessary muscles.
Back extension rolls are good drills. Using blocks and other props are good.
Drop early, be aggressive.

i am getting really frusturated with my clear hips (some of you may call them free hips). I can do it, but in level 6 you have to shoot out to 3/4 of a handstand...and i can't even do it to horizontal!!
