Good day everybody!
I teach a sport science course at the University of Toronto. Gymnastics is not my expertise... though I have a great appreciation for the sport. Last semester I started a YouTube channel where I interview high level athletes and my students have an assignment about the content. This week I am interviewing Canada's only Olympic gold medalist - Kyle Shewfelt.
I'd appreciate if anyone in the chat could give me ideas about the types of questions to ask...
The broad focus of the interview is development of high level gymnasts.
But there could be human-interest types of questions too.
Any thoughts would be appreciated!
Denis

1. How do you manage nutrition? What advice would you give a gymnast regarding nutrition? What do you prioritize regarding nutrition?

2. How do you manage injury/setback recovery? How do you manage mindset while recovering? What advice would you give to a gymnast regarding this?

3. How much sleep do you try to get before practice + comp?

4. Was there ever a time you wished a coach had handled something differently? What happened? What would you have changed?

5. How did your training have an impact on your family?

6. Was there ever a time you wanted to quit that stood out to you? Why? What made you choose to stay?

7. How often did you train/what did practices look like leading up to the Olympics?

8. What is another sport/or art you have done? What is one you would try right now?

9. Did you ever repeat a level? If so, why?

10. How has being a gymnast impacted the way you live, and habits you carry with you?
