So, i'm looking for advice I have sever's disease and it's pretty bad right now. I have two options, 1) switch gyms to go to a gym with tumble trak because mine does not have a tumble trak or tramp. or 2) stay at my gym and don't progress
Where should i go?
For anyone that hasn't been following, dd has had hip trouble dating back to January, and was diagnosed with Perthes disease this summer. A pretty devastating diagnosis for a gymnast at her age (12, training L7). We initially had hope after meeting with her orthopedic specialist said early...
I’m sure some of you remember me posting in January about my dd’s (12 years old training L7) hip trouble. She was sent for an MRI which showed nothing but fluid and since she was already doing better orthopedist diagnosed transient synovitis. Followed up in a month, she was doing great and...
Has anyone got any tips for severs? my daughter has it back again and is due to trial for a new gym on Tuesday! . She is on crutches and I have bought the cheetah heel support which was recommended for gymnasts but as she dosent walk from heel to toe(she lifts and puts feet flat down!) it is not...
I recently went to the doctor for a lump right by my Achilles tendon. He thought it could be related to osgood-schlatter disease. We are going to try physical therepy. Does anyone have tips for Achilles pain and/or related issues?
Pea hurt her elbow about two weeks ago and a recent MRI showed a diagnosis of Panner's disease. She has a follow-up with an 'arm specialist' on Friday, but I'm wondering if anyone has had any experience with this that they would be willing to share. My friend Google says that it's rare, but is...
Does anyone out there have any experience with this fairly serious wrist condition? One of the younger girls on the team was recently diagnosed. Is it necessarily the end of gymnastics?
Help!! My dd has a severe case of Sever's Disease. We recently just started a new gym training level 6 and right now she cannot vault or tumble, they need her to score out of level 4 and 5 within the new few months and I don't see that happening. She comes home from practice crying every night...
I know there's lots of posts here on Sever's, but I'd like to get some opinions from different perspectives (parents, coaches, and gymnasts) on the topic.
How do you deal with Sever's Disease and training?
We took my daughter to the pediatric orthopedic doctor a couple of weeks ago. She was...
Never heard of it? Neither had we - or Flippers coaches (who have been coaching for long enough they have run into nearly everything). Flipper was diagnosed with Panner's about a month ago (MRI). It is a rare bone disease the affects elbows, mostly in 5-10 year old boys who play baseball ;>...
I think we are looking at Sever's for our DD, 7. The coaches say its relatively common. She has been complaining of heel pain for the last two weeks. No swelling or redness. It is exactly where the websites point to in describing Sever's-where the Achilles tendon attaches at the heel. We are...
Has anyone dealt with their child having Iselin's Disease?
My daughter had xrays today and saw a specialist. The specialist said that in my daughter's case, it was caused by her femoral anteversion disorder which causes her to walk with her feet turned in, which in turn caused her tendons to...
We have an 8yr old gymnast with Severs - She has had 1 complete month off - didn't even come in for conditioning because she was too tempted to do gymnastics!) and prior to that she was only doing what didn't hurt and conditioning.
She is wearing heel cups and has her own ice pack which she...
I was reading about this in the coaches forum. My daughter was diagnosised with this in the fall. When I took her to the sports medicine doctor he said she can tumble all she wants that it won.t cause any damage but in the coaches section I saw something about a modified training plan. She...
I have a very talented 9 year old gymnast who was diagnosed with Severs Disease this summer. I don't doubt that she has it, but I find it frusrating and confusing that most days she can handle practice with out heel cups or tape and some days she can't do anything. My question is if any other...
i'm trying for National Novice and i have Osgoods. If i don't do something about it I might not be able to go Novice, and I really want to!
PLEASE HELP!!!!!
Had to take my DD (8) back to the Ped Ortho today. The past few weeks she has been limping, hopping and I was thinking she either re-fractured it or the cyst that was in her heel at the fracture site and become larger. Just to re-cap, she had fractured it in December and was out of commision for...
For the last year I have been suffering from an inflammation of the growth plate at the tibial tuberosity, also known as Osgood-Schlatter disease. It is in both of my knees but lately has been mainly in my left. Sometimes the pain is not bad to work with, but other times I just want to drop on...
