Hey ya'll. Just wanted to know if anyone had some newer, more unique drills for keeping your feet up on kips after free hips. Have done the straddle circle strength and such, does anyone else have anything else out there? Thanks!
Hello to all of you gymnastics-savvy people. I have a question for you regarding a drill my DD did this week.
This week is her gym's compulsory camp. The preteam L3's go during the morning only. Yesterday, her coach worked the entire group of L3/L4 girls together on bars, then the 3's...
For our practice we are supose to bring in a new drill to help a skill we need work on. Can you please post a drill that you know of and what skill it helps?
Thanks!:D
I am wondering if there are any drills for getting a full needle scale on beam. I am about 35-40 degrees from a full split. I already have the drill where you put your scaled leg up against the wall and walk it closer to the wall if that makes sense. Thank you in advance for your input.
I have a rising level 6 who has a very easy time with giant-style turnover, but a very hard time stopping his rotation for a moy. He can do a beautiful flyaway off the end, and can do giants with a spot, but can't catch a moy because he overrotates it (on more than one occasion he has, while...
Short and to the point:
What are your best drills for increasing shoulder flexibility/ROM, I know a few but I'd like to expand.
This is mainly intended for coaches, but I'm not willing to put it in the coaches only forum and miss out on good input from non-coaches.
Thank you in advanced.
Hey! So today at summer camp near the end of practice my coach let me start swinging on straps so i could try for my giants. So i did my taps and then my coach told me to do a cast away to tap to back uprise...i did it a couple times but then when my coach left i couldn't do them...and if i did...
Hello,
Wondering if anyone has advice or drill suggestions for front handsprings on the floor for someone who dives into it too much and uses back flexibility instead of pop to stand up.
I have years of bad habit in front handsprings that I'm trying to correct. :D I've been doing double hop...
Hello!
I'll make this as concise as possible. A new girl just joined one of my T&T classes, and everything is pretty solid aside from her punch front tuck.
She will not set, and as she punches she starts dropping her chest/looks down...also throws her arms down, basically she tries to...
I'm really close to getting my front walkover. Really, REALLY close. I get up a few inches, but then I either fall back or fall forward.
Does anybody know any drills or strength exercises that will help me get my front walkover? Because failing at it again and again isn't helping- at all.
I really like the 'thegymnasticminute' youtube channel - they mostly publish good stuff, trying to give the best advices in the shortest time.
They posted this video (not new) showing some shoulder flexibility drills - and I was wondering about the first one, the one with the aerobics band -...
Hi, I've started learning Yurchenko's on vault (roundoff backhanspring over the vault), and I need some drills for flipping. I can already do the timers very well, but almost every time I flip I land on my knees. It gets annoying and my coach tries to help, but I don't know how to fix it. Are...
Hi there,
looking for a skill name.
Uneven bars, you do a sole circle on the lower bar, but not all the way around it, after 2/3 around you open up, do a 1/2 turn and kip up. Any ideas ?
Vault: 1/2 in 1/2 out, does this one exist in the US ?
Hey everyone! I coached through my teens and very early 20s, then stopped coaching for a few years, got married, had kids, etc. My DD started mommy & me gymnastics at a local gym last summer and I began coaching rec classes in the fall. Beginning in a few weeks, I'll be starting a brand new...
I am teaching a lady and her 2 kids (doing semi privates) they do t&t and want to learn baranis. They have been trying to learn them for 2 years now. We teach the front tuck kick out jump half turn as a beginning progression, but they can't kickout properly. Also 2 of them are confused about...
I just wound up with a class of cheerleaders who want to work backhandsprings.
They actually aren't doing badly--we've fixed some handstands, some roundoffs, and the push back action. But when it comes to spotting them, I'm having some trouble-it's HARD when they're as big as the coach!
The...
