Hello all, first post here!
Just took my young gymnast(6yo) to the sports medicine doc with heel pain. She recently increased her training hours from 4 to 9 since joining the gyms level 3 team. I was told she is experiencing “severs apophysitis” or basically pain in her growth plate area...
Let's see who it the hardest working gymnast by posting photos of your well loved
gymnastics gear such as your grips, wristbands, tiger paws, ankle braces, beam/acro shoes
or tuli's cheetah neoprene heels cups!! haha
My dd mentioned some heel pain, but says it's "just from doing front tucks on laser beam, which makes everyone's heels hurt." Still, I'd like to be proactive if possible. I've read on here about heel cups/shoe inserts. Question: do I just pick those up at the drug store, or do I need to make an...
My DD is having heal pain. She has dealt with severs and says this feels different. She says it feels like there is "something" in her heel, on the bottom of it. It makes anything on her feet (running, tumbling, dance, etc) hurt all of her heel. When I rub her heel, deep in the tissue I can feel...
My daughter has been experiencing heel pain from back tuck on beam (we think). We have been icing it every evening. She doesn't hurt walking or outside of gym, but every night when she comes home from gym she complains about it. Any suggestion as to what else we should do? Thanks all.
I've seen a number of gymnasts wearing these heel wraps, and on every event except maybe vault. They are seen in the below pictures:
I'm wondering what the heck these are. Are they used when gymnasts have heel pain? Or are they used to prevent heel pain? I've seen them used when learning...
I have been trying to take development gymnasts right back to relearn vaulting basics for handspring vaults which were dreadfully pikey going on and dreadfully archy going off .
so far worked on run up (still a work in progress-but getting better) hurdle and armswing and landing on board...
Hi,
My daughter (8 y.o. gymnast) has been diagnosed with Sever's. :-(
She is walking on her toes on that side, pain flares up after activity etc. But when I look at all the info it is heel pain which is the main symptom. My daughter's area of pain is more towards her inside ankle - behind and...
Hello. I'm wondering if anyone has experience with this product. Has it helped heel pain, etc.
Also, I'm curious about sizing. My DD is very tiny so I'm assuming she would need and XS. Thanks!
DD has very small feet for her age (little kids size 12-13). I got her Tuli's cheetah cups in XS but I think they may still be too big. How snug should they be? Does anyone make a smaller version?
Our HC just told my girls to buy pads for their heels to protect them when learning release moves on the bars. I can't find any specific to gymnasts but saw on old posts that some use hockey elbow pads or volleyball knee pads? Seems like the volleyball ones would be softer but do they need the...
DD's coaches have her working on BT-BT or BT-BHS series for beam. Their preference would actually be BT-BT because they think she can do it with very few deductions. However, DD is experiencing heel pain (on one foot) when she does a lot of back tucks on beam. It's triggered by the BT skill...
Anyone had luck treating this while their athlete was still training? DD Floor is suffering because she can barely get through her tumbling passes. Currently she's only running her tumbling lines two or three times per practice because if she does more, it hurts to walk.
My 11 year old level 6 has been complaining of heel pain lately and her coach told her to get some heel cups. I was searching a googling and I'm not sure exactly what to order? Any advice?
I saw an old post asking about heel protection for release moves. You may want to take a look at Custom Imact Shelds at https://www.facebook.com/#!/americancore
They can be ordered at Link Removed
8 year old DD just started complaining of heel pain this week. We are heading to the doctor for something else and plan to mention it. Should I ask about Severs?
It appears that the whole family is very challenged when it comes to this skill. :D
My dd cannot seem to get the hang of it. She has all other level 2 and 3 skills (still working on beam dismount), but heel snap is a mess. She sort of wobbles and topples over. It's two quarter turns. She's...
So, apparently, D tumbles on his heels. i think it is all related to his posture, still quite a bit of an arch in his back. I think that makes him be farther back on his heels rather than his toes.
Is there anything he can do to work on this? He tumbles quite well for being on his heels...
The past few times I have trained at one of the centres I use I have had really sore heels. It's not the Achilles' tendon, but the actual pad of my heel under my foot. One hurts much more than the other.
It can't be the tramp because tonight I used a different one to normal and still had pain...
