We are at a gym that is a great fit for us: location, community, hours, price, style.
My 8yo did a year of XB following by XS and now looking to move to JO4.
I was told that a 2.5 week vacation we booked this summer (my family lives in Europe and we aim to go every 2 years) may be a problem...
Coaches appear to think my daughter should be done with competitive gymnastics. I am struggling a bit to accept this as she works super hard, has been making significant progress and got a >36 AA score at Sectionals (9th of 18 in her age group).
She is 9 years old and just finished her first...
Congratulations to all the JO National qualifiers from CB...
my DD qualified out of Region 1, JR C!
we were definitely more nervous than she was. last year, she broke her finger before regionals and missed out on qualifying. In the big picture of gymnastics and life, none of this really...
USA Gym is doing pretty good job at capturing all the scores:

Can't seem to find link for Region 1 though.. anyone know?
Hi, I’m new to gymnastics. My daughter is 9 years old and competing in XCEL Gold. She does very well. She’s also a competitive swimmer and plays competitive tennis. We’re not sure whether we should continue with Gymnastics. Since she’s not in JO, we don’t see a future for her. When she tried out...

In poking around, I noticed the following information on qualification to event finals for JO athletes:
"The Top 36 AA in each single age year (Top 72 Level 8: 12 year olds) will advance to Finals. The Top six in any individual event not already...
I've seen various charts that are all over the place -can someone clarify this? I know XB is most similar 2, XS ranges from about 3/4 and XG is approximately 5/6 -but as certain skills are not required in Xcel (for example the clear hip -the levels are watered down a bit compared to JO). What...
So suppose just for druthers, you have a guy who's competing JD1. If you wanted to figure out roughly what he'd be scoring in JO at L9, would it simply be a matter of adding .5 to his event scores for events where he had all group requirements and a B dismount? Or are judges developing norms...
So has anyone heard that level requirements are changing?
I'm curious if it's an across the board change or just a change in the requirements at my daughters gym.
This is my dd's second year on team (age 8). Last year she competed Xcel gold. She now has all level 6 skills except the clear hip at this time (working on it) and bars are not her strongest event (getting better though).
The plan is for her to compete JO 6 or 7 next year (depending on where...
So in the Link Removedit says diamond gymnasts may compete a D skill. However, there are no D skills listed in the book. Can you just pick any D skill in the JO COP?
Thanks
Update #3 is out. A few interesting things: They are using JR FIG code of points. No idea what changes that makes. Level 10 is now 8 skills, vs 10 previously. JD has a div 1 and div 2.
I've only skimmed it but those things stood out to me. I also think I saw that 11yo can do JD.

A question mostly for coaches: when would you recommend that an athlete switch to the Xcel track when she very much wants to stay in JO? What qualities would make a gymnast more suitable for Xcel over JO?
What is the difference between A B and C at JO nationals? In other words how do they decide on these groupings?
You'll have to excuse me if this is a ridiculous question, I'm not American and it was my first year watching/following JO nationals.
