    Layout Flyaway Help!

Hi! I've known how to do a tucked fly-away for quite some time now, so to get a jump start in level 7 I tried to do a layout fly-away but I couldn't do it! My legs would immediately tuck as soon as I let go of the bar! Any suggestions? -GCG

Coaches Help with a back layout

My DD is working on a back layout for L7---she can't seem to figure out the body position. Her coach keeps telling her she is doing a whip instead of a layout. She has a beautiful flyaway off the the bars---is a layout the same position? Any advice would be appreciated... Thank you!

Connection value question: round-off + back layout 3/2

My 11 year old is working out her Level 9 floor routine. She told me this morning that she thought that her first tumbling pass (round off-back layout 3/2-front tuck) might receive 0.2 points for connection value, but she wasn’t certain if the round off would count in a A+C connection in...

    Body Position after Layout

After you land a bhs back layout to 2 feet or fhs punch front to 2 feet I noticed that gymnasts then do a "lunge". Is this to absorb the rebound from the landing? My daughter just had her first L7 meet and I noticed she does not do this. She had a small hop after her fhs punch front tumbling...

    Front Layouts?

My front layouts are staring to look pretty good on floor. I was wondering if they were an acceptable level seven salto, and if just a punch layout would be a legal last pass, while keeping my fronthandspring-front tuck and ro bhs layout passes of course.

    Front Layouts

I was wondering which position (tight arch or hollow) in front layouts is better for eventually twisting. I've been training both and I really, really want to learn to twist but I can't seem to figure it out. In my case this will only be done from a trampoline onto a mat in the pit and...

Alright, I am working on full twisting dismouts on bars. I can twist the full completely around however i land on my back. I twist after i let go of the bars so twisting too early isn't the problem. Yes i know i pull my toes but what can i do to fix that. Twist more? Not to mention i keep...

    Coaches Front layout

I need some good drills for front layouts. The girl in particular I'm thinking about does a very archy & sloppy layout. When she tries to do a tight arch through her layout she lands on her bottom, like she's not driving her heels hard enough. Also, do you teach a hollow layout first or an...

    Coaches Double layout off rings

I've recently started training rings again, and I'm trying to get a double layout (hardest dismount I've done before is a double tuck). I've heard some coaches say that the technique is different for a double lay than for a double tuck, but I've never heard much explanation of how it's...

    Coaches Layouts

My daughter is trying to correct her layout and we need some advice. When she does a tuck, she is very high but in her layout her head is only inches from the floor and she has to pike to land on her feet. What could she be doing wrong and how can she correct it?

    Back Layout

Anyone got any tips for the roundoff-bhs-backlayout tumbling pass? My ro-bhs-back tuck is really good-and all my coaches say that I should be doing layouts. I can do them on the tumbletrack and on floor, but apparently I arch into it or something. My coaches tell me to stay hollow...any tips on...

    Coaches Technique discussion: Front Layout

I've seen this skill taught in several different ways, and I wanted to see if we could get a discussion going about the merits of the various techniques. Some coaches coach a hollow front layout. I'm not entirely sure why. I coach a heel-drive front layout; I coach it not as the forwards...

    Double layout

This is a bit more advanced than most of what's being discussed on these forums, but does anybody here have experience coaching a double layout on floor? I've been working on mine and can't seem to get it, despite the fact that it's only a D and I'm working several E skills. Doing it onto a mat...
