Parents Parents of kids who made it to upper level optionals

Looking back, which level was the most fun or exciting for you to watch as a parent? Which level do you think your kid enjoyed the most? Was just curious about this as meet season is about to start.

Parents NGA Lvl 3 vs. 4

Hello. My daughters gym recently switched to the new NGA program and they have placed her in lvl 3 as she doesn't have a kip yet. I'm wondering what skills are allowed in lvl 3. Can she go to high bar, back walkovers or front tucks allowed off beam, r.o. backhandsprings or front tucks on floor...

MAG Which level? Or can a L8 be successful without twisting?

So ds and coach are working on figuring out what level he'll compete this year. Anything from 7 to 9 is on the table at the moment. New skills are coming fast; he really took off this summer. Twisting is his sticking point. He can sometimes twist in back rotating flips but front rotation plus...

WAG Not Allowed to Repeat Levels

Why do certain gyms not allow a gymnast to repeat a level? I know of a gym that does not allow their gymnasts to repeat levels 5 or 6. If they can’t make it out of 5 or 6 within a year, they tell the girls they are moving them to Xcel. What is the possible reasoning behind this?

    Parents experience with repeating level?

My daughter competed level 3 last year and is training level 4. Her gym informed us that in Sept. the girls will be tested on level 4 skills. If they do not have them, they will repeat level 3. Right now she just needs to get her kip. Is this common? My concern is my daughter competed level 3...

    Parents Moving up levels

I’m sitting here in tears after my daughters coach slammed the office door in my face and told me to go back to my old club, after a question was raised. We walked into gym and one of my daughters friends fro her team had moved up. Super excited for her. However, my daughter has been told for...

    Parents Level 2

I would like to get some insight on what other parents felt about their gymnast competing level 2... Please don't tell me it's a waste of time/money Our gym decided to have my gymnast compete level 2 because she was missing more than 1 level 3 skill and because she has never competed before...

    Adopting the new BG levels?

Just wondering if all your regions are adopting the new BG levels. I think all regions will provide a qualification competition for Bronze, Silver and Gold in order to make a team for national finals in the Autumn but are your regions going to do the Zinc and Copper levels too. I...

Parents Not mature enough for level

Hi, I need advice from all the experienced parents. My daughter is 7 and is training xcel gold for next season. I don’t think she is mature enough to safely throw some of the gold skills such as front tucks, back tucks, and jumping to the high bar. Physically, she can do those things, but I...

Parents 7yo Level 2 Casting Mental Block

My daughter started gymnastics about a year ago and fell in love. She did so well in her rec classes and wanted to try out for team, so we let her. She was placed level 2, and is now experiencing a mental block with casting high. She says she is afraid, but was never afraid in her rec class to...

    Parents Level 10

I know there was a thread about first year level 10 last year.. so I thought I'd see if anyone had an update to post? If your daughter was trying for level 10 last year, did they end up competing it? If so, how was it? If not, will they be trying for it this year? If next season will be their...

    WAG Tsuk for level 6?

So I was wondering if it would be possible to do any drills to get my tsuk onto mats higher so I can land on my feet? right now I can compete a front handspring vault and a half on which is basically a tsuk with no flipping and landing on the ground instead of a mat. Any tips?
