So, I am a high level platinum gymnast who hopefully will be a diamond next year (State/Regionals are coming up soon) and have had many injuries recently. I got back from my 2nd stress fracture in my ankle in December and recently my back and SI joint have been bugging me a lot. I have gone to PT but I don’t feel like anything has improved too much. My ankle still bugs me even though it is supposed to be healed by now and my back sometimes makes it so I can’t do all things at practice.
Any tips to avoid more injuries or to get better faster?

I just recovered from an ankle injury after almost 6 months. I kept re injuring it. I would suggest doing red light on your ankle and massaging it a lot. I also would soak my foot in warm water and epsom salt. Other than that just take it easy at practice and let your coach know.

Use a compression sock or brace when you practice, especially tumbling. Ankles are sensitive parts, best to protect them. The brace keeps it from being injured further. Also I would ice after practice. Maybe ask your PT for advice too

Ice after practice or if it feels really swollen, but you shouldn’t really ice other than that as it slows down the healing. Use warmth instead, like a rice bag or water, to increase blood flow and thus speed up healing. Better nutrition also does wonders, especially make sure you are getting enough protein and calcium. Also stay hydrated. You should get a PT that is at least somewhat experienced with treating gymnasts, otherwise it isn’t worth it in my opinion.
I would check out SHIFT movement science for your specific injuries, and for injury prevention. Here is a link to their website, but also check out their YouTube channel. https://shiftmovementscience.com/
Injuries suck and they are a lot of work, so I wish you the best of luck and a speedy recovery. And a very important reminder, LISTEN to your BODY.
