my little one has her first meet of the season this weekend. i ask her, "so what is your favorite part of going to meets?" she grinned and said, " i like how we sometimes get like water bottles with candy in them." "really? that's the best part?" "yep, and oh, it's fun when you get a trophy or...
What is up with the grey jackets? They jackets looked like astronaut outfits. I saw that the swimmers had them for medals too. I much prefer the swimmer warmup jackets with the stars on the back.
I have a great problem and I'm hoping to get some advice from the board here.
My daughter recently finished her second competition season and, I'm proud to say, has racked up a huge number of medals over those two seasons. I had installed a hook in her room for them a little way into her first...
Finished up our first year competing at level 4. Wow it sure was exciting with all the ups and downs of placing and not placing. We bought our daughter a medal holder at one of the meets and it's pretty full :) which is a great thing. So that had me thinking long term. How do parents of...
Hi, so I am doing a research paper on the controversy of the Chinese gymnasts ages at the 2008 Olympics, and whether or not they should get their medals stripped like they did in the 2000 Olympics. I am wondering if you guys had any opinions about it, and if you knew of any research databases...
Our gym will be hosting a meet in the near future and they want to use the medals that have the USA Gymnastics logo on them. We've gotten them at state (Idaho) before but I can't seem to be able to find them. I have checked the logical place, the USA Gymnastics site and several other online...
What a great weekend! We had our second compulsory meet and little dd had a pretty good day! First was vault and if you remember, she is barely taller than the vault mat and we literally weren't sure if she would make it over at the first meet. Well, somewhere in the past couple weeks she has...
Congrats to Dakota Earnest (pictured on trampoline below) and Alaina Williams (pictured with medal) for their silver and bronze medals, respectively, at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico.
(fantastic leotards too!)
A recent discussion arose at our gym this week, centered around the awards given at compulsory meets.
Does the Meet Director make the decision whether to give medals or ribbons to the girls that place or are there specific guidelines dictated by the type of meet (invitational, preliminary...
So. Im lost, I have a rack, and you add little hooks to it, as you need more space...But im getting tired off running out of hooks, and having to get more.... What are some good display ways? Do you think medals look better with about 10 to a hook, or 1` to a hook?
So, There hasn't been a lot of new posts lately, So I thought I should start one! ;)
How many medals do you have? Also, are the gold, silver, or bronze? and..If you know, out of how many possiable??
I will start. I am only USAG Level 5 but this is what I got!!
28/30 possible. (1st year...
My dd is starting to get ribbons and medals from different sports (but hopefully now will be more gymnastics). I'm curious as to how everyone displays their awards? Do you use hooks, shelves, etc? And if you could say where you got the displays, that would be great! Thanks in advance!
Are the medals that your gymmie received labels with anything, like event and place? One two meets that my DD attended did it to the medals. Today I found Avery labels that were 1/2 in by 2 inches while I was cleaning my desk and labels all on her medals like this:
meet name and date...
Medals can accumulate quickly can't they? If your gym-bug is like mine, she has to have them all on display. I found a neat way to do just that. I bought a white pole type curtain rod and attached decorative brackets to the wall. The pole just lays in the brackets so you can one lift one end and...
Results of the "Freak Meet" are in! The host gym sent the girls their medals and goodie bags! Basically a judge had to score the girls that did not get a chance to finish before we got kicked out in order to do the awards for the Level 4 teams. In my DD's 6/7 group there were only 3 scores...
Where do you keep your ribbons/medals/trophies?
I have my trophies like displayed on all my dressers so thats not a problem. My medals used to hang on the posts on my bed but that made it kinda hard to sleep at night when they were clanging around. I used to keep my ribbons on a stuffed...

BEIJING -- For the first few minutes, Nastia Liukin didn't even know the score, unable to see anything beyond the "2" in front of her name.
When she finally did look, she figured she had to be seeing double.
"I turned to my dad and said, 'Dad, we got the same score.' He...
