So I've been observing that there are many different approaches by various gyms as to moving their girls through compulsory and on to optionals. Some gyms seem to favor skipping Level 5, some Level 6.
At our gym the HC (from what I've observed/heard) wants the girls to have a layout on floor...
DS has had a long gymnastics road. He is competing L8 this weekend on 3 events for the first time in 2 years.
It is a big meet that happens to be at his home gym.
He asked us NOT to go. He said he thought the pressure would be better without us there.
I totally understand, but feel I need a...
Level 3-8 Coach needed for small team. Knowledge of USAG TOPs program a plus.
Strong team with several State Event Champions and AA Champions and TOPs national team members.
Minimum 24 hrs/wk, possibility for more hours w/ homeschool program
$17+/hr paid as salary once hours are negotiated...
So I need some opinions. My 9 yr old DD is competing 7 this year. Last year, she had a cute floor routine for Level6/Gold. At the end of August, HC gave us the option of keeping last years floor routine, and just upgrading the tumbling, or picking new music and learning a new routine. My DD...
My DD struggled all through compulsory with her form. It seemed no matter how hard she tried or trained she could not fix her bent knees or point her toes. Her coaches always told her she would be a better optional gymnast. Here we are 4 years later and she is set to compete level 7 this coming...
We are still a level 4, so I am kind of looking ahead, but I see a lot of posts that talk about girls being better at optional levels than they were at compulsories. Is that because they optional routine is tailored to show off their strengths? Or are optional levels less picky?
So....DD was told by HC yesterday that even though she has all her level 7 skills and is training the level 8 skills, she will be competing 6 this season. DD was heartbroken. She was told by her coach that she wants her walking into optionals meets knowing the meet will be a piece of cake. I'm...
My 7.5 year old DD needs to pick music for her level 6 floor routine. The gym allows girls to pick their own music (HC gives final approval). DD has no idea what she wants. She is by far the baby of the team (most of her teammates are middle school age) and I think she needs something cute but...
PDA USA Gymnastics Academy is looking for experienced coaches to lead our very competitive girls optional and compulsory teams. Our program has been built from the ground up with a strong compulsory program and a growing optional program. The potential applicants will need a strong desire to...
In our gym the USAG team has two different leotards. Compulsory has a different competition Leo than the optionals. The parents had thought all the USAG should have the same Leo's. Is it normal for the optional levels to be different?
Northwest Gymnastics Training Center is searching nationwide for an experienced coach to lead our very competitive girls JO team. Our established program is very competitive with a long-term vision. The successful candidate will have a commitment to excellence, a strong desire for improvement...
This is my DD'S 1st year in optionals. I've seen a lot about "A", "B", and "C" skills but haven't found anywhere that spells out what skill is in each group; is there such a place?
My DD will be 10 at start of optionals but turns 11 before end of season. Will she compete in an age range or with ten year old then 11 year olds. Thanks. Hope that makes sense.
Does anyone know anything about this camp? Looking for something for DD next summer. I'm trying to find something that is strictly gymnastics & not $1000.
So just curious if anyone knows of optional level girls that do minimal training hours. Maybe just to stay in the sport, or to allow flexibility in the teen years, etc.
I believe we have a level 6 at our gym who trains just twice a week (8 hours) and still competes USAG. It seems like this...
The Social Group that was for parents of new Optionals last year has been changed to a private social group who want to stay together and move through the Optional levels together. Therefore there is no longer a group for parents of girls moving into Level 6 or 7 this coming season. Anyone who...
I just finished my second season of level 7 this year and I am planning on skipping levels 8 and 9, competing the rest of the season level 10, as well as qualifying elite, and hopefully getting on the national team, I know that I am easily capable of all of this even though it does seem like a...
I was wondering if anyone had heard of a Summer Camp or Gymnast Workshop for Optional gymnasts where working on uneven bars was a focus? For example; getting a cast to handstand, improving giants, pirouette and release skills?
