Just as the title says, one of my gymnasts won’t attempt a squat on by herself because she’s scared to hit her shins. We do countless drills and shaping for squat ons that she does great with on her own. When spotting her on them, I’m really doing nothing more than giving her a “finger spot,”...
Looking to see if anyone is dealing with this-- my gymmie is rarely sore after practice- even a hard fought conditioning session. But she completed a timed mile run on Monday and thighs, shins, calves have been aching....normal...any other gymmies with same issues?
PLEASE HELP!!!
Lately I have noticed that my calves hurt at practice. I haven't noticed it during normal activity, but the other day it hurt to JUMP!? Not very intense or anything, just uncomfortable(at least landing it was) We did floor first that day and I still did front tucks, robhshs, front...
I get Shin Splints often and I was looking to see if any one knows of anything that would help. I have some of the sleeves but they don't seem like they help that much plus they get really hot.
My girls gym has recently started having the girls run 4 miles for conditioning on Tuesdays and Fridays. Coaches run with them so they are fully chaperoned so I am fine with it. Today my youngest DD (10) came home hysterical crying over her shins saying they "felt like they were going to go...
Hey guys :D I know it seems I am always injured-but I am at that age where I can't quite catch up with my body! Lots and lots of growth spurts :rolleyes: I know have shin splints-but only really in one shin, the other is only little pain.
What do you, your DD or anyone you know do to help...
when I went to pick Odd up from gym today, she was in tears and said that her shin hurt, she told me it started hurting after she was doing leaps on floor( which we're switch slip, cat leap full) she thought it would go away so she started doing her in by's on vault and it hurt a lot more. I'm...
Anyone had this? I think I have it in my forearms. I rested it for a week. I don't feel it in every day activities, but in back handsprings I still have this sharp pain.
I always have shin splints. I massage my calfs after training, but they never really heal totally, even after longer breaks I...
Recently I've been experiencing some pain in my right shin. It feels like the muscles are all contracting in the front of my leg from the top of my ankle/foot to my knee. Its gone from being a couple times a day thing to near constant and makes it rather uncomfortable to walk. I was wondering if...
I know I've posted about shin splints before, but I have a new question.
So they came back about a month or two ago. I started doing strengthening exercises for them 3 times a day. I have been sitting out anything that could possibly hurt it at gym (vault and floor). And yet they still have not...
Today I was running my hand down my shin, and I noticed there is a dent in my shin bone! It is about 2-3 inches down from my knee, and about 1/2 inch in diameter. (sorry for the non-Americans, I don't know how to convert to cm). I didn't hit it on anything, and I am pretty sure it just appeared...
I recently had shin splints in both shins. I took a couple of weeks off practice to let them rest. I should have taken more time off, but I thought they were better, and I had to practice for a big move-up event, so I started practicing on them again. Since they didn't heal completely then, they...
I am no longer a gymnast, but have been dealing with shin splints lately (most as a result of dance classes on what I believe is a non-sprung wood floor at my campus gym). Anyways, back when I was coaching regularly, I had a whole arsenal of exercises that were supposed to help prevent the...
I took DD to the doctor on Monday for her shin splints. The good news is that there is no stress fracture, but she has a bad case of shin splints. She has been dealing with these for over a year, and nothing seems to be working. She broke her foot two months ago and had to take 6 weeks off...

Hey All,
I think my DD Beetle (aged 14 - Level 8/9) Has shin splints. She has pain in 1 shin. It is a sharp shooting pain upon landings and seems to get worse as practice goes on.
I have done some research. It seems Ice, Rest, Ibuprophen, taping are the standard fare.
She competes this...
I've been having pain along the bone in both my shins and I asked my coach what it was and she said a shin splint. What are they and what can you do to help the pain b/c it's affecting my floor. Doing punch fronts and ro bhs btucks are torture. Please help!
I'm a runner turned gymnast and shin splints aren't new to me. I had my first stress fracture during sophomore year cross country. I've been nursing an ankle/foot injury for a year and have begun running on the days I'm not in the gym. I started having shin pain periodically over the summer when...
Yep I've had shin splints for about 14 months now. Not fun at all! Here's what I can tell ya
~You can tape your arches at practice which is the same as wearing shoes. I found that this made my feet cramp up really badly though and I didn't like it.
~I got to the point that I was filling up a...
I am having problems with my legs, I do realize you are not doctors and that I should see a doctor. I am just looking for ideas from your own experiences. I get terrible pain in my lower legs during gymnastics, specifically when we run or jump. I am fine on the trampoline. When jumping or...
