i saw this thread in the coaches and parents forum and figured it only made sense for the gymnasts to have a say too!
my gym has team practice from 3:30-7:30 M-F and 9-3 on Saturday (only for levels 9 and 10). however you don't have to go to all of it. level 4-6 only need to 3 weekday...
I've been trying to learn flares on the floor. The best I can do so far is the front part of the flare; I do it counter clockwise. When I try to swing my right leg under my left leg, I usually just fall on my hip or stomach.
Got any tips for me?
Are there any exercises for flares?
As you know DD's last day is this Wednesday. It has been a tough final month. (more for me) I had to laugh when the coach sent out a letter to the team today pretty much saying the season is over, etc. etc. but his last paragraph epitomizes why my daughter is quitting. Here it is verbatim...
I was just wondering how many hours everyone trains a week and what level everyone is.
When I was a level 10 I trained 4 hours a day 5 days a week (because of diving but the gym trains 6 days a week).
Hi there, I'm just wondering has anyone used extra help to boost their child's confidence in this sport? I think my daughter would be able to improve so much more if she just had more confidence in herself. In training she always says she feels like she won't ever learn the harder skills yet...

I am interested in when some other gymnasts have gone to training twice a day? I have a 10yo daughter who is training 5/6...her gym doesn't push the girls on and I really like her coaches. they have said that in Jan 2009--she will be moving to twice daily. What are some pros and cons...
