I run a gymnastic program through a YMCA. We are a very small program. I only have classes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. We share the gym with a cheerleading program. They are wanting to change days so we can only have practices on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Can someone please give...
I have heard some gyms talk about needing an average season score in order to train the next level. What are coaches opinions on this. Does requiring a 35-36 season avg really help in the long run or is it a way to make sure teams and kids can place well.
I saw someone else posted how many hours do you train per week and what level are you but I didn't see any replies from people who are in the Xcel program. I am doing Xcel Silver and will be training only 4 hours per week. Is this enough? Can other people in Xcel please tell me how much you train?
Just wondering because i am going to be a Level 9 and train about 20 hours a week, what are you doing? Just curious to see if i am on the low end of training or what, seeing if i should train more! Thanks!:o
DD just began this - Monday through Friday, 20 hours total, as a L7. The gym prefers this schedule to allow family time on the weekends. Also, during meet weekends, the coaches are usually gone all weekend long.
How does your body feel with this schedule? Physically/mentally. Are you worn out...
And what is the majority of their time spent doing at the gym? I read (on here I think) that between the ages of 5-7 most of the training is conditioning and not apparatus work, is that true?
My question is regarding gymnasts who leave competition to pursue, maybe for a season, another sport (cheerleading) but realize they really miss gymnastics and might want to come back at some point. Are there programs within your gym that offer training options for those girls? My dd recently...
DD is 7 (competing 8 yrs as she turns 8 in December) and today after training the head coach took my husband aside and said that she was ready to move out of her current group and start training with the older girls full time!!
Her group currently trains Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, and she...
Very interested to know what sort of building clubs are training in, particularly in the UK. Our club in Kendal is in a small industrial unit which we rent off the Mint Cake factory. We would like to move to larger premises but our local council refuses to allow us to use any other industrial...
We had our first "real"-not in house-T&T meet this weekend.
All of my athletes moved up on at least one event between our in house last month and this one, so I was expecting a lot of inexperience kinks. Boy did they prove me wrong!
I've got a little thing that's level 5 on tumbling & 6 on...
questions for all gymnasts/former gymnasts:
what level are you in?
how many hours per week do you train (including conditioning)?
how many days a week do you train?
about how many hours per week do you do conditioning at your gym?
thanks :)
This is 2 questions really.
British Grade 13 beam set dismount is a round off from the beam (hands on beam, feet to floor). As I understand, a round off should finish off balance leaning backwards, to accellerate into the next movement. On floor for the same grade the round off goes straight...

I am P3 (level 7) i train 12 hours a week, 3 times for 4 hours. But my schedule is more or three hours training so 9 hours, plus 1 hour dance, and 2 hours fitness training.
Just wondering : )
Hi I am a gymastics fan from Connecticut. My daughter was training to compete at level 4, but didn't want to do it anymore because "it wasn't fun anymore and I get tired of working on the same stuff over and over." She wants to train but not compete and it seems like if you do not compete you...
I have one gymnast who has a nice pike tsuk, but she recently started working front fronts. They are ok, not great. But what is the point of switching? I'm wondering how you go about choosing a vault to train? What criteria is used?
Also, I wanted to post this in the coaches forum, but...
