I hear there are new compulsory routines coming with new music!Does this change the compulsory routines, or just affect scoring?
Be careful what you wish for; next time I hear new music and think it's an improvement will be the firstOMG new music would be amazing!!! I can’t keep listening to hours a week of the clown music…![]()
I don’t mind the current music and I’m so used to it that I don’t even hear it anymore. I really hope the new music isn’t annoying to me!Be careful what you wish for; next time I hear new music and think it's an improvement will be the first
They are supposed to be only doing the BIG updates for one of the 3 (DP Compulsories, DP Optionals, and Xcel) at a time, staggering the roll-outs.Does this change the compulsory routines, or just affect scoring?
Coming back to this rumor I heard, this matches up with a different rumor I heard a few months ago that start values for level 10 bars will be a 9.2. I wasn't able to verify that with anyone, but if this is true, then there are .3 in composition deductions currently on bars so that would add up to a 9.2 start value. maybe? Now I wonder does that mean beam and floor will "start" from a 9.0?Heard this from someone on FB
Adjusting so that compositional categories of dedications are now applied directly to start values. So what the judges show as start values for routines will now be the actual number that routines are being deducted from. Currently there is a start value and then there are compositional deductions that are “hidden.” This will be more straight forward and clear for all when receiving judgements at meets.
Compulsory changes every 8 years. It's not time for that.Does this change the compulsory routines, or just affect scoring?
Not until 2029.I hear there are new compulsory routines coming with new music!
Things change every time they update the Code. Things also change yearly.
Xcel will be updated in 2 years. They are staggering the updates, so the Xcel code will be used for 2 more years.Ooh, no, but I’m very curious. Does the Xcel cop get updated this year as well?
Compositional deductions are not hidden. There are standard ones for all levels 8-10, then there are specific compositional deductions for each level 8-10. They are not hidden, there is a chart in the COP very specifically outlining the deductions. I dearly hope they are not going to be coming off the start value, as that add a whole other level to calculating the start value for us judges. I don't see how subtracting compositional deductions from the start value is beneficial or necessary.Heard this from someone on FB

Compulsory routines are used for 8 years before new ones are created. The process takes several years each time, that's why they stay for so long. The next ones are already in the works and have been for a couple of years, and are still not ready. They will be ready in August 2029. Level 5 is undergoing HUGE changes for the next cycle. It looks like the new compulsory routines won’t roll out until 2029. https://usagym.org/update/applications-being-accepted-for-2029-37-compulsory-level-4-choreographer/
