Anyone heard any rumors on what might be changing?

Ooh, no, but I’m very curious. Does the Xcel cop get updated this year as well?

Does this change the compulsory routines, or just affect scoring?

Be careful what you wish for; next time I hear new music and think it's an improvement will be the first
I don’t mind the current music and I’m so used to it that I don’t even hear it anymore. I really hope the new music isn’t annoying to me!

I did hear about some changes that would affect l10, but I cant remember. Have to ask my daughter

Heard this from someone on FB

Adjusting so that compositional categories of dedications are now applied directly to start values. So what the judges show as start values for routines will now be the actual number that routines are being deducted from. Currently there is a start value and then there are compositional deductions that are “hidden.”
This will be more straight forward and clear for all when receiving judgements at meets.

They are supposed to be only doing the BIG updates for one of the 3 (DP Compulsories, DP Optionals, and Xcel) at a time, staggering the roll-outs.

Last I remember hearing, Compulsories would be 2021-2029 (with the big changes during the time happening for the 2025-26 season).

2026-30 was supposed to be for DP Optionals.

Xcel is supposed to have its next full code for 2028-29 to 2031-32.

Coming back to this rumor I heard, this matches up with a different rumor I heard a few months ago that start values for level 10 bars will be a 9.2. I wasn't able to verify that with anyone, but if this is true, then there are .3 in composition deductions currently on bars so that would add up to a 9.2 start value. maybe? Now I wonder does that mean beam and floor will "start" from a 9.0?

Compositional deductions are not hidden. There are standard ones for all levels 8-10, then there are specific compositional deductions for each level 8-10. They are not hidden, there is a chart in the COP very specifically outlining the deductions. I dearly hope they are not going to be coming off the start value, as that add a whole other level to calculating the start value for us judges. I don't see how subtracting compositional deductions from the start value is beneficial or necessary.

Compulsory routines are used for 8 years before new ones are created. The process takes several years each time, that's why they stay for so long. The next ones are already in the works and have been for a couple of years, and are still not ready. They will be ready in August 2029. Level 5 is undergoing HUGE changes for the next cycle.

What changes for level 5? Can you tell us anything more like does this mean it will be “easier” or harder because when I competed level 5 (2022) it was very difficult for me but level 6/7 have come easier (with time probably). I’m very interested in this!!

Beam deductions

Hi everyone! I’m hoping to get some help understanding my deductions on beam. I’ve been watching my videos back, but I’m having trouble figuring out exactly where the judges are taking the most off. If anyone is willing to take a look and give me some feedback, I’d really appreciate it. I’m especially curious about execution deductions, rhythm/connection issues, and anything in my acro or dance that might be costing me. The judge started me at a 10 for this routine, and I got a 9.1
