I have a rec gymnast who used to have strong front tumbling including front tuck/pike/layout for several years. We eventually transitioned to twisting and they were able to do a barani, full and rudi with great form and technique. However, several months ago they suffered a case of the twisties where they could do twisting skills with no problems but cannot do a front tuck/pike/layout without twisting. We immediately went back to basics and eventually got the front tuck/pike/layout back. We cautiously added back twisting, but immediately after re-introducing the barani the twisties came back. We again went back to basics and focused on other back tumbling, but my gymnast's confidence has taken a hit to the point where they are afraid of front tumbling (even a simple dive roll) and feeling hopeless. Any advice for how to help them overcome?
