I have been told that if you hold under the beam during a skill (ex. backward roll) this is something called anchoring and you get a large deduction for that. Is that true? I've seen videos of others doing rolls and they grab underneath the beam. Would I get a deduction for grabbing under the beam during a backward roll? If so, how much of a deduction?
Any help would be great.
Thanks :)

The method for doing a back shoulder roll involves grabbing the bottom of the beam, so there should NOT be a deduction unless you are holding on longe then you should.
