Lol, between the 3 girls and I, we have at least 17 ankle braces. 7-8 of them are lace up figure 8 braces. 4-5 are sleeves with figure 8 straps, and the others are the cheap ones with velcro closure on the foot and above the ankle.I've always used lace up figure 8 braces. Both times I've been fitted after breaking my ankle and once after spraining it that's what I've been fitted for. The ones I've used allow for normal up and down motion but limit side to side and circular motion. I prefer lace up braces because they accommodate better for swelling.

They've talked about doing ones with hinges (I didn't know it was a thing!) for my ankles. I quit gymnastics cuz I kept destroying my knees and ankles haha. I have had a sleeve but it wasn't helpful. If I need compression I find ace wraps are most helpful.Lol, between the 3 girls and I, we have at least 17 ankle braces. 7-8 of them are lace up figure 8 braces. 4-5 are sleeves with figure 8 straps, and the others are the cheap ones with velcro closure on the foot and above the ankle.
