DD does 6 hours a week training. Not in a set squad as such as her gym chops and changes gymnasts around a lot with hours/days. She is hoping to compete next month but has been told if anyone is not up to scratch they will not compete. Is this standard practice? We’ve been told to practice routines at home but no guidance as to how much to train/what standard is needed. Feeling a bit lost with it all and want to help her out at home so she does not get disappointed if not selected. Any thoughts?

Country may help with info - I assume you are not US based, but most will.

Are the comps recreational in-house? Floor &Vault? I would assume if it was more formal, you would know by now as uniforms would need to be ordered.

Anything she does at home should predominantly be self driven with you as a guide/supporter rather than taking on the coaches role.

As for what to do... memorise routines - then in the gym she can focus on the detail and corrections from coaches.

Strength work, even better if you can do it together. You don't need apparatus- core body strength makes everything 'easier'

Flexibility, I like Shelby's FlexAbilities program on YouTube to follow.
