Thanks so much! I would say that was a very unusual ROBHS for her; she has historically not had an issue with short back handsprings. I think she is focusing so much on the connection to the tuck she is throwing away the handspring a bit. Although I do agree it is a skill she never should stop working and could always use some correction and improvement. Hopefully her coach is continuing to do that. She has incredibly strong legs and often has the issue of using that strength to override technique (squatting low in 2nd BHS instead of using the bounce etc).

So glad to hear you think the tuck is coming along well. I guess not much to be done except wait and keep working strength.

Also I will add she is a young 7 and this back tuck is less than a month old. She typically can only focus on a few elements at a time. When she’s building a new skill I feel like her old skills always suffer. Maybe age, maybe just how she is.

She is progressing beautifully. I think that the best way to help her succeed is to focus on the things that are truly in the parenting sphere: nutrition, sleep, school, friends, outside activities, growth mindset, and encouraging a positive attitude. Adding an additional sport during the summer can be beneficial to avoid the risks of early-specialization. I always recommend swimming, since it is a lifetime sport and also an essential safety skill. A running sport like soccer would also be helpful for improving leg strength and speed. Whatever sounds fun for her is the best sport to choose. Good luck!
