Hello! My daughter is a level 6 gymnast. If she falls after her back handspring and grabs the beam on the way down, is that an extra deduction? Or just the .5 for the fall plus any form/amplitude deductions?

I do not believe there’s any additional deduction for grabbing the beam. I think a fall is a fall. There could be additional deductions surrounding the skill itself depending, but I don’t think it would be a result of grabbing the beam. But I am certainly no expert, just a parent that has been around the sport 11 years and has asked a lot of questions

Beam deductions

Hi everyone! I’m hoping to get some help understanding my deductions on beam. I’ve been watching my videos back, but I’m having trouble figuring out exactly where the judges are taking the most off. If anyone is willing to take a look and give me some feedback, I’d really appreciate it. I’m especially curious about execution deductions, rhythm/connection issues, and anything in my acro or dance that might be costing me. The judge started me at a 10 for this routine, and I got a 9.1
