Hi! I’ve been working my BHS SO on low beam but but I cannot for the life of me get my hands together, not even on the floor (our coach teaches one hand in front of the other, both palms on top of the beam). Does anyone have any drills?? If I manage to get them together(almost never happens) I just collapse onto my knees out of the BHS. It is not a strength issue, there is just something really off about the way I’m doing it. Help!! I’ve also got pretty bent knees on the SO but they are straight on regular BHS, so if anyone has something to help with this too I would really appreciate it. Thank you so much.

Practice handstands on the beam with your hands in the BHS position. It will help you get used to the feeling. Also, collapsing on your knees out of the BHS could mean you are closing your shoulders. Common drills for BHS on beam are doing BHS up to a panel mat (helps with getting height and opening shoulders), doing BHS over a boulder (shaping), and there is one that is good for opening shoulders. You do a BHS onto an 8", but stop in the handstand position and forward roll out of it. When you catch HS, your shoulder are supposed to be pressing out in a slight arch so that you can roll out of the HS. Hope this helps!
