I'm looking to replace my gym's current climbing rope, and I have a couple of questions:

1) What's the best material? I want something that will provide a good grip and which will last a long time

2) What are some good places to buy climbing ropes?

I like manilla, but don't get the synthetic manila. It also has a unique smell I like.

You can pick up manila at some hardware stores, but it costs more than online and you won't often find anything more than 3/4" stock.

1.5" is pretty standard but sometimes we use 1-1.25" for the younger gymnasts.
