Women Cancun Classic info

Asking for a local coach who is looking to take her girls to a fun meet. L8-L10 girls.

Has anyone been with higher levels? Was it worth it in terms of competition level, fun for the team, comp set up etc etc?

Any other insight you have is welcome too.

Our girls went about 3 years ago. They will not go back. They had fun, on the beach, running in the ocean, etc. The meet, well..

equipment was not good. We had 5 girsl come back with injuries. One of our level 10s actually punched thru the floor and broke her foot on one of her tumbling passes. Another got injured on floor. 2 were injured on vault. 1 on bars. The bars iirc were shaky and scary to compete on.

Hopefully alot of that has been fixed, but that was our girls' experience. I was not there...obviously, so all of this is 2nd hand

We went to the Atlantis meet in the Bahamas a few years ago. It was a fun meet and we made a week long vacation out of it. Meet is in Atlantis and you get discounted room rates. It's around Christmas so kids are not missing much school to go.

Wow, far from ideal. Nobody needs to start the year injured.

I looked up results online and it looks like few gymnasts at each level, so really not good competition.

We were looking at Cancun for this year, but the families who would have gone are the same families that went to Atlantis a couple of years ago, and Cancun was just way too expensive compared to Atlantis.
We had a great time at Atlantis! (we were all hoping HC would choose that again, but for whatever reason she just didn't listen to us. So we have no travel meet this year).
