Is covering your mouth or standing the opposite way so people can not see your mouth, when talking to other coaches, a red flag?

I would prefer that over gymnast overhearing negative comments about themselves or teammates. I’m surprised at how much they pay attention and the perceptions they develop.

Yeah my coaches often cover their mouth while speaking to each other and it’s so we don’t overhear what they’re trying to say. It’s for privacy reasons and so that we don’t overhear things about other athletes that could be possibly be embarrassing for them.

Occasionally seeking privacy is not weird—maybe they are talking about their personal business or the personal business of an athlete or how much they hate their bosses. Frequently seeking privacy is a little weird but I’d assume it was personal business because there really isn’t that much to say about the gymnasts.
