My DD, 16 year old sophomore in high school is currently an Xcel platinum. She's currently training 12 hours a week at a not so serious gym, and she's been wanting to get more serious for a few years but we haven't made the switch. We called a gym to ask about switching but she has a lot of trouble with mental blocks and wasn't at the level she quite needed to be. She really wants to increase her training hours and the seriousness of her training but we aren't sure how. Does anyone have any tips or ideas?

You could ask about private lessons or switch to a gym with higher hours… however… 12 hours is is a good amount of hours for Platinum.

You also have to consider the mental blocks. Mental blocks and more hours do not go well together many times.

How is your daughter’s strength? This is something that you could supplement a couple hours per week at a local strength gym. Many of our optionals go to the same gym across the street that the high school football players go to… it has helped tremendously. Strength may help with confidence and some of the mental blocks as well… you never know.
