And while I was a bit disappointed at first we think it is actually a good thing. DD nor any of her teammates will be getting an invite the June camps. Our coaches just returned from the elite camp that was held this week and they were able to speak with Valeri and Kim and received a ton of useful and helpful information. Our gym is just now getting back into training elite so Valeri wanted to make sure that they knew what he was looking for and what training our coaches should be doing with the HOPES girls. The 4 girls at our gym our just now starting on the HOPES training and it sounds like the camps are all very full with girls that were picked from the TOPS camps as well as girls that have already competed in at least one HOPES meet. So the plan for our girls is to train them on HOPES and Level 9/10 skills over the summer (regular training for their level 9/10 skills and 5 extra hours per week on HOPES, along with ballet 1 night a week), qualifying HOPES compulsory at the end of the summer/early fall, and competing JO level 9/10 during the 2018 season with our travel meet being at a HOPES optional meet (sounds like it might be the one in Vegas) and hopefully qualifying HOPES optional while still qualifying for state, regionals and the ultimate goal of westerns. We were so worried with sharing the news with our DD but she took it great (better than we did!!). She said she didn't want to go to the ranch until she has all of her level 9/10 and HOPES skills and is maxed out on her physical abilities (she is still struggling with her presses). So the hope will be to get invited to a camp sometime in 2018, either by making it to the HOPES championship or being invited some other way.
