Proud Parent
This past summer, we held a tumble-a-thon that coincided with the Opening Ceremony and I wanted to share the idea with parents of the CB for those of you associated with your booster clubs.

We had our gymmies collect pledges for certain tumbling skills. We assigned each tumbling skills a certain monetary value and they could ask people to sponsor them for the tumbling skills within their abilities.

Then on the day of the tumble-a-thon, we had parents help keep track of the number of skills and to help calculate the amount of money each gymnast could collect from their sponsors. We also gave the girls awards (tiaras) for highest amount of each skill and then named an overall tumble queen (t shirt winner) for the girl who raised the most money.

It was our first attempt and though we only had 10 girls participate, we raised over $700! In addition, the girls had SO much fun!

The coaches have said they want to get involved next year so we're going to turn it into a small competition....probably the team with the highest percent participation gets to do something to/with their coach.

Our gym has done this in connection with Make A Wish Foundation. Both our club and theirs split profits and I think it has been at least $500 each in that past. Some people are even more willing to donate when they know that half is going to support Make A Wish.
