Hi! Has anyone made the transition from optional-level gymnastics to cheerleading in college? How easy was the transition, especially to tumbling on dead mats as opposed to spring floors? Thanks!

We have had girls who did high school cheer and gymnastics and then went on to college cheer.
We have also had girls go from gymnastics to middle school or high school cheer ... doing competitive cheer for their schools (on dead mats) and they had no trouble with the transition.
We even had 2 girls who moved away transition immediately to All-Star Cheer.

There might be a little bit of a learning curve for you at first, but you start with the basics and work your skills up from there.

My daughter made the transition from gymnastics and is now doing cheer in college. She never did cheer before college. The transition was not too difficult but did take some time to get used to tumbling on the dead mat while wearing shoes. She just started with the basics like roundoff back handspring and then worked up from there as she felt comfortable. She also did have to get used to being sharp in her moves for their game day routines at the football games which was very different from gymnastics. Her team competes in Orlando at the UCA competition and she just loves it.
Her college any many others do cheer clinics so I would recommend attending one of those if you are interested in doing cheer in college. Feel free to PM me if you'd like more info.
