This is my first post- my daughter is a level 6 and her hands are slipping frequently when she does her bhs on beam. She has the correct hand position and fear is not much of a factor but her hands keep slipping which is keeping her from doing the skill. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem would be appreciated! Thanks!

If the coach is all on board, maybe chalk?
How do you know her hand position is right and fear isn't an issue?
The coach says her hands are landing correctly and the videos I’ve watched seem to support that. She is getting more fear now that she has had some falls but she is still doing it. We have had some girls who stop trying all together.

Is she seeing the beam before her hands hit? A lot of kids will say of course I do, but if you watch a video they are not seeing the beam at all. This makes it a lot more likely that they will slip or miss a hand, she should also be looking at the beam where her feet are going to land before they do. Commonsense I know, but you would be surprised how many don’t do it.

Beam deductions

Hi everyone! I’m hoping to get some help understanding my deductions on beam. I’ve been watching my videos back, but I’m having trouble figuring out exactly where the judges are taking the most off. If anyone is willing to take a look and give me some feedback, I’d really appreciate it. I’m especially curious about execution deductions, rhythm/connection issues, and anything in my acro or dance that might be costing me. The judge started me at a 10 for this routine, and I got a 9.1
