I'm new here and relatively new to gymnastics. My middle child is 5 and has been part of our gym's development programme for 2 months now, which is a smaller group of those identified as 'talented', and he now trains for 6.5 hours per week. My eldest son is almost 9 and he started gymnastics relatively late (8), he currently does 1 hour of recreational gym a week and has just started a 6 week trial with the tumbling squad which is two 2 hour sessions. Finally, I have a 3 year old daughter who only does recreational gym at the moment but she trains with children aged 5-7 because she was moved out of the younger group to challenge her.

The gym that we go to is one that specialises in acro and tumbling. So far all my children seem to be enjoying it, and I feel like I have moved into the gym because I am there 5 evenings a week lol.

I'm new on the forum too.

I started with gym when my eldest watched the Olympics and wanted to be "like the cool dudes on the telly", that was 6 years ago. Middle boy tried it and just wasn't interested but baby girl is obsessed !

We travel 1/2 an hour to the gym, 5 days a week for girlie who does 12 hours a week, but this year things are changing and I'm hoping to car share, and get a satelite club set up in our town - fingers crossed. All this has to fit in with school activities, swimming for minime plus rugby for the boys - its a headache alright !

Hope you find it as informative as I am - with a few translations needed lol
