Last thursday i had a row with my older sister, because she is claustrophobic and hates confined spaces , i locked her in her room, i enjoyed watching her kick and screaming to be let out,i even recorded it on my phone, i only meant for her to be locked in for an hour or 2, while anyway my friend rang up and i got distracted and went out, i forgot about my sister, my parents came home 6 hours later and found her locked in, she had missed her driving lesson and a date with her boyfriend, she even had to wee in a flower pot, my parents went mad and said i would be getting a taste of my own medicine , they said i will be spending ALL of this weekend locked in my room as a punishment,as i have exams this year my parents have set me tons of school work to do , including maths , english , french and science plus two 4 page punishment essays per day, my parents made me get up at 7am, and in bed at 9pm for lights out, i had to eat in my room and was only allowed out for bathroom breaks, it is HARD , long and VERY dull punishment, do i deserve it ?

How does this have to do with gymnastics??

If I were a parent I would never do that to my child, but I would also hope they would not delight in their siblings suffering. It seems the goal of your punishment was to make the suffering more or less even and to discourage you of doing anything like that in the future. Perhaps it succeeded in that, but it also likely did not improve your relationships with your family, which should be the goal of discipline after any sort of fight; healing and improving relationships. So I don’t think the discipline was the right choice, but not for a matter of whether you deserved it or not. I think that is the wrong mindset. I assume the discipline is done and over with, so don’t look back on it now. I would encourage you to just focus on bettering your relationships with your family.

This whole conversation feels a bit wrong and I’m not even sure if I should be responding, but there are my thoughts. I hope your week gets a bit better

thanks for your advice, i am a gymnast, but i know this question has nothing to do with that subject, part of my punishment is to write two 4 page punishment essays per day while locked in my room, thats why i still have my laptop, i have to look up the meaning of clustrophibia and write a 4 page essay on how it affects people, and another essay on unaceptable behavour and punishments, my parents said they want me to learn from my punishment, i DONT like being locked in its a misreable punishment, do you think the essays are a good idea ?
