I wear a knee strap for Osgood Schlatters (growing pains), and I wear it to competitions. Last year during one of my meets the velcro loosened during my floor routine, and when i did my front tumbling pass it fell all the way down my leg and I had to awkwardly kick it off...everyone (even my Coach-) laughed, and I know they werent being mean about it I just was traumatized. I didnt wear it the rest of Comp Season, and that caused me to favor my other knee and wobble/fall a lot. My knee still hurts, so I have questions. My Coach told me its a deduction; Do they actually take for that? And if so how much could they take? Any other knee brace options for Osgood Schlatters? Thanks.

I'm not familiar with the particular deductions of the JO program. But in FIG, the thing with any bandage/brace is that it has to be skin color or beige. So you'd have to tape over the brace if it's not, that's what most gymnast do in that scenario.
About the deduction did your coach mean it was deducted for wearing it or for it falling off? In FIG code, wearing it if it's not beige/skin color would be a deduction, but falling off won't. Probably you could be deducted for doing movements that took off your artistic performance, though.

They do deduct for it coming off during the routine ... unless it comes off without extra movements AND it is immediately removed from the floor by a coach or teammate. It's a small deduction.
I would suggest wrapping tape around over the velcro. My gymmie does a layer of pre-wrap, then a layer of athletic tape around the brace at both velcro straps.
