I have hyper extended knees really bad. They look beautiful and tight when doing routines but are causing me a lot of pain when I land tumbles. About every month I will hurt them causing me to miss out on about a weeks training. I am looking at getting a brace for my knee any suggestions? Has anyone had this problem before?

Strengthening your hamstrings, I believe, would do more than a brace. (Somebody more knowledgable please correct me if I'm wrong.) Because hyper flexibility isn't going to fix itself; the muscles around it need strong enough to hold everything to where it's supposed to be. Working your quads and calves probably wouldn't hurt either.

See a physiotherapist who specialises in gymnastics or dance. They should be able to give you specific exercises for this problem, and also may be able to suggest how you could modify your landing technique.

agree with Kiwi, P&F has knee problems due to hypermobility. The PT showed us how to tape in cases of pain flair up and gave us a list of exercises to strengthen her leg muscles to hold the knee more firmly. He also said that her landings were probably a bit pidgeon-toed, causing too much pressure on the outside of her knee.
