I have a young and tiny 8 year old L5. Her leaps on floor are small and not super high off floor. I once saw a coach (not team coach) using therabands or resistance bands tied to the ankles to have this girl doing split jumps and leaps. Would that help my dd? Can that injure or harm her in any way? Just trying to figure out anything to help her out. I don't stay to watch but I don't think her coaches have tried this with her during practice.

She is 8 and tiny. Her leaps will be better as she gets bigger and stronger. Having splits all the way down and over split will help the leaps to hit 180. That seems to be a bigger issue for most than amplitude. Remind her to work hard during stretching, and she can even do splits at home.

Thank you! We do keep having to remind ourselves she's 8. Lol. A coach told her that the leaps were a lot of her deductions on floor, so we were trying to help. She does practice her splits but doesn't have an over split yet. Thanks for your help!

Beam deductions

Hi everyone! I’m hoping to get some help understanding my deductions on beam. I’ve been watching my videos back, but I’m having trouble figuring out exactly where the judges are taking the most off. If anyone is willing to take a look and give me some feedback, I’d really appreciate it. I’m especially curious about execution deductions, rhythm/connection issues, and anything in my acro or dance that might be costing me. The judge started me at a 10 for this routine, and I got a 9.1
