The handbooks at the 2 gyms she went to said that a dr note was required for an injured gymnast to return to full practice and a dr note to provide info on what the restrictions are for attending practice with the injury. I do not think that is unusual. Never heard of needing xrays. Nothing addressed on sickness either.

For us, requiring a doctor's note was for a few reasons:

1) If we were going to refund or partially refund tuition due to inability to participate fully

2) So that we would be aware of exactly what was going on and what the gymnast was cleared to do

3) If the gymnast was back from injury and fully ready to go, we wanted a doctor to be the one to say that

Going through our team handbook. Can a coach demand a dr. note and or xrays for injuries and sickness? Daughter is L 8/9 gymnast. Happy to discuss all injuries with Coach but this seem excessive.
Do you mean she needs a doctors note to miss one or more practises or competitions or does she need a note to return? X-rays seems like a bad idea to me*, but aside from that I agree with what the others have said.

*I think X-rays shouldn't be demanded by a coach. A doctors note should do fine. They're not a doctor. And if they are a doctor, they're not your daughters doctor so they still have no business with her x-rays. Plus an x-ray proves nothing; I can find one online right now if I wanted, how would the coach know it's actually mine and recent.
