I have a question about meet fees. First let me say that I like my dd's gym and I have no plans to leave anytime soon. This isn't a huge deal, but sometimes I do think they are a little aggressive in their fees. Anyway, I noticed something recently and I was wondering if this is normal or not..
So at our gym, they charge a yearly registration fee which I already think most gyms here don't seem to charge. For coaches fees they have an amount they charge per gymnast that is broken into 4 equal payments made monthly, which seems standard. Then they have the individual meet fees that they charge for the meets your child attends. Well I noticed today that the fee we are charged is higher than the posted meet fee on meetmaker and other websites. So, for example, the website says the meet fee for a particular meet is $75 per gymnast and they charge us $82. Another meet is $65 and they charge us $80. So, it is normal to charge extra on top of the posted meet fees? I thought at first maybe they were splitting the team fee, but with our team of 11 and a team fee of $35, that wouldn't really explain the difference. It's not a huge amount of money of course, but it made me wonder where they are coming up with the numbers from. I would have expected to be charged what the meet is charging honestly. But maybe this is normal and I am just missing something obvious?
