My 8 year old daughter trains 6.5hrs a week at her current club. She’s in their highest squad. However they only compete at local recreational competitions. 3 per year my daughter this year came 3rd,2nd and 1st respectively. They dont follow BG pathway and She now feels there’s nothing to aim for. She loves the competitions.
She has been offered a place at a new club who do follow the BG pathway and grades I’m just really torn. The new club is a not for profit organisation and the current club seems to be all about money and have so many gymnasts in at Abu one time it’s getting very crowded.

My concern is I’m jumping too soon but my 8 year old daughter loves her current club but actually wants to move which says it all.

Help!!!

I'm no expert (just a gymnast), but from your post, it sounds like you're strongly leaning towards moving gyms. I think you should trust your gut (especially if your daughter wants the move too!). Having goals and people to look up to can make a difference.

If your daughter wants to compete grades and she is being offered the chance at another club now is a very good time to move. If you leave it too much longer she will find it hard to be offered a place for grades competitions due to her age.

If she loves gymnastics and is strong, 8 is not too soon to move. It also sounds like she is at the top of her current club with no where else to go at that gym?
