At 12 year old, this kid is ready to learn that 1) people aren't perfect and 2) When you see something that isn't "fair" MOST of the time you will not have the full story, and will never be given the full story. 3) Most of us only get worked up about "injustice" when it interferes with our own desires. When an exception is made in our favor, we don't question the injustice. It's human nature, and a 12 year old is old enough to understand that.

^^^ Well said. Yet another great life lesson from gymnastics!!

We tell our kids "life isn't fair." This perhaps is another example for your daughter, who will see such unfairness another 3,452 times in her life.

I have a list of my observations of unfairness that are far more seriousness. We tell our kids that they can't control those things, but they can control their reactions to them. If a coach's unfairness is egregious and you think will impact your daughters progress or safety, then you can choose to go to another gym. That is how you react. Your daughter can react by accepting that life isn't fair and working her tail off to be the best gymnast she can be amidst unfairness.
