Hi Coaches, Gym Owners, Parents -
What kind of padding do you have in your gym? My problem currently is that the entire gym I took over is made with concrete, and there are spots on the floor that are not covered by mats. We have open concrete by the trampoline and the edges of the pit, which is a huge safety problem. What does your gym use to cover this, or where do you get it? Where can I buy the covering for the edges of the pit? Anything I can use to cover concrete on the floor?
Thanks :)

ask the dealer about "culped" carpet bonded foam. and don't you know who to call? where are you??

I do not know who to call, thus the question!:) But we have some old foam laying around, so I guess I will start with that. Would all gymnastics equipment dealers have culped carpet bonded foam?

yes, where are you and i'll tell you who to call. shipping is expensive AND if they're close enough they'll install it.:)

What is "culped"?

hard to explain maybe in this media but here goes. if there is 12 inches of padding up on the cement floor, with the foam facing up, you cut out and angle cut to make an upside down "V" shaped channel at the approx 11 inch mark so that the carpet bond folds over the the wall to go downwards and then glued to the wall. the "point" of the "V" will be against the carpet and the open cut is facing you. if this is not done, then the carpet/foam can't be "bent" and lay flat on the angle.

some gyms i have seen just slice the foam with a straight edge and glue it down. but it turns out crappy, the bend protrudes and the foam ends up pulling off the cement.
