But honestly, those age groups from regionals through nationals really aren't necessary. The age groups can be drawn regionally for regionals and then again nationally for nationals. There is a 3 week break between the two events. More than enough time. Each region could have a super team of 8 each for jr and sr (heck, even make a child group) and then the rest of the spots are divided up based on percentages of girls making 35s at state meet. This is how many regions figure out their xcel, 6/7/8 regionals, though they use scores from regular season. If there is a concern about certain regions not being represented enough due to low number, there can be a minimal number that each region is allowed to send.They can't alther the birthdates because those are not JUST for Regionals at Levels 9 and 10. Easterns/Westerns and Nationals is where those age cut offs are set ... so all regions have the same age group as "JrA" so competing at JrA, you aren't competing against girls who, in your region would have been JrC - it also helps when another region has to fill a position for another region.
Not that I think this would ever happen, but it is possible.
