Hey! This is my third season coaching team (first season as head coach) and our home meet is coming up. Our director said that the gymnasts need to be mounting and dismounting from the same end of the beam. In my 12 years of being involved with gymnastics (8 doing gymnastics, 4 coaching) i’ve literally never heard this rule. When I asked our director about it she said something along the lines of “yall already knew that”, but we didn’t do that last year or the year before. I also checked in with the other team coaches and none of them had heard it before? I am just really confused on this especially since the other team coaches (some have coached 10+ years) weren’t aware of this either.

A lot of gymnasts mount in the middle, so that would be impossible. It's not a rule, and its not judged or even thought about in optional or Xcel levels.

Turns out she meant that the girls can’t use a springboard to mount on one side because there’s a wall there. I coach Silver and Gold though so it was confusing for me due to the wording.
