DD uses them. Keeps it moist, but seems to also breathe better than covering it with Neosporin or similar. Since it's so expensive, we cut them smaller so it lasts longer (they're much bigger than the rips usually are). It conforms to the hand well, so it's less noticeable than a bandage.

She wears them for a few days, then it's usually fine to take it off and move on.

My DD loves using this- she usually has 4-5 rips on her hands any given week (ouch). We use them at home, but we tried to use then at gym under pretape/tape for bar work, and nothing would stay in place. So now we use them when not at gym, and DD sleeps with Vaseline and gloves. The combo heals up the rips fast.

I keep and use Second Skin gel squares in the gym. Link Removed
I slip a few into a zip-lock bag for the gymnast to take home overnight to continue the "open-wound care."

Additionally, all gymnasts/parents are provided this article, Link Removed,
The Treatment of "Rips" (Wounds) on the Gymnasts' Hands published by USA Gymnastics and authored by Dr. Larry Nassar.
